This is a VERY easy project!  You can probably make this in about an hour and get a ton of compliments when you wear it the next day.  If you make one send me a picture.
 
BULKY MACHINES
Needle Set-up:  L52 to R52 Tension 10
Two needles in working position, skip five, three working, skip five, three working, skip five etc.
11.....111.....111 etc. ending with 11 on the opposite end.  Note there are only 2 needles at each end.  After selecting needles, "e" wrap or crochet cast-on.
Small:  knit 280-300 rows.  Medium:  294-330 rows.  Large:  310-350 rows.
Bind off loosly.
 
STANDARD MACHINES
Needle set-up:  L98 to R98
Two working needles, skip ten, three working, skip ten, three working, skip ten, etc.
11..........111..........111..........etc. ending with 11 on opposite end. 
 
Yarn weights and rows:
Fingering weight:  675-690 rows
Sport weight:  525-540 rows
Worsted Weight:  450--470 rows
 
The basic rectangle is approximately 28" wide and 70" long.
 
Finishing:
Fold in half and mark the center.  Measure from the center 1 1/4" to mark point 2 and 3.  Measure over 10" from each edge to mark point 1 and 4.  Match the points 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4.  Using a yarn needle stitch up the shoulder seams.  You may also crochet the seam as well.

This one is knitted with Lion Brand Homespun on a Brother 260 but can be adapted to Bond, LK150, Singer, and many other machines.
